Closed in shoes MUST be worn at all times.
The caterpillar stitch has become one of the most intriguing of all the exposed sewing techniques. It was originally developed by Betsy Palmer Eldridge and is recognized on the cover of Keith Smith’s book, Non Adhesive Binding, Volume III.
The sewing pattern which travels across the spine, begins on the cover with the antennae and head of the caterpillar and continues across the folds, sewing the signatures as you proceed onto the back cover.
In this workshop you will sew three “caterpillars” onto a soft cover book with multiple signatures. Some sewing experience is recommended for this class.
All materials and tools are supplied at the Bindery
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be supplied. There will be tea breaks and lunch which you are welcome to bring with you or there are cafes and markets nearby.
Please wear closed in shoes.
