You must have completed our Bookbinding course for beginners or equivalent.
Good eye/hand coordination and good dexterity are necessary for this course as sharp knives are used in the cutting of board and paper.
You will be shown correct procedure in the use of these tools but good co-ordination will assure accurate cutting and prevention of injury.
Closed in shoes MUST be worn at all times.
Learn the principles of traditional bookbinding and working with leather - without the fuss! Still using traditional materials and techniques, with a beautiful finish.
What techniques will we cover? Learn to sew multiple sections, make quick leather spine and covering books with boards and decorative papers. This course is an interpretation of the Bradel style of binding. This will be a fun day where we will make as many little books as possible.
You will be taught how to use a variety of tools and materials and how to apply them to the sewing and construction of your book. By the end of this course you will learn skills fundamental to hand bookbinding and have several completed books to take home!
