Welcome to the NSW Guild of Craft Bookbinders Inc.

Reading books and having them bound represent two enormously different stages of development. … Having books bound signifies respect for the book; it indicates that people not only love to read, but they view it as an important occupation. Dostoyevsky

The gentle but practical art of bookbinding offers hours of creative enjoyment to those who value text and image set between the covers of a book. The NSW Guild of Craft Bookbinders offers members a well equipped bindery where they may practise their craft and attend workshops under the guidance of experienced tutors and where they may increase their knowledge and expertise in both traditional and modern bookbinding techniques. See The Bindery.

The Guild’s official magazine Morocco Bound is published twice yearly. It contains articles on the history of binding, technical hints and many useful items of interest to bookbinders.

Under the supervision of our dedicated librarian, Richard Godfrey-Smith, the Guild maintains a comprehensive lending library. See The Bindery.
