A Craftman's Guide to Edge Decoration
By John Mitchell
Published by The Standing Press, 1993
"The first section is all about the proper tools, then sections on colored edges, sprinkled edges, gilding, gauffering, but the two chapters I most appreciated were the ones on marbling and fore-edge painting. When reading up on marbling, none of the books I'd found addressed it as edge decoration [they only discussed how to create certain patterns] so this book is a wonderful resource. And the other topic, fore-edge painting is another rare art, so it was great to have that included as well so that this book is a truly comprehensive reference. I also appreciated how there are blank pages for notes at the end of every chapter so that this can be used as a workbook and annotated with your own notes/measurements." Review from the internet!
